Stopping Movement Training aims to free our movement and gain back the rich possibilities of movement our bodies naturally have. It addresses our basic need for movement, and explores the way movement expresses our intentions in life and determines the ways we interact with our surroundings.

Stopping Movement Training teaches how to use breathing and concentration to further build confidence, fluidity, adaptability and strength in the body.
The training is based on moving with music, within defined parameters such as different areas of the body, different speeds and sizes or level of effort, all of which continuously demand a higher level of control. Different tools, such as balls, sticks and ropes, are also used to encourage new possibilities of movement.

In contrast to many other forms of sports activity or movement practice, in Stopping Movement Training we’re not aiming to learn new routines, choreographies or specific movements. Within specific limitations and with the focus on constantly stopping
our old/known movements and habits, we rather create an open space for our individual freedom and possibilities of movement we didn’t know we could aspire for. The experience of free and unrestricted movement naturally starts to emerge, which is both light and full of power.

Controlling our movement through body-attention rather than through our minds may look from the outside as if we only stop the physical movement, but through this form of training we are actually stopping our never-ending internal dialog, becoming more quiet, focused and directly engaging with our surroundings.
